On This Day
May 9, 2025
On this day, a four-leaf clover was handed to a customer, and a scooter was ridden to work. A basket of laundry was carried into a laundry mat by a woman with LOVE written all over her shirt.
A balloon arch was built, and a story was read about a baby bird trying to find its mother.
White pants, flowery dresses, and fancy hats were worn through Fairhope. A husband washed a pan at the kitchen sink.
"Daddy" was yelled out at an afterschool program as a daughter ran to her father. A volunteer helped a student with homework–he's been doing this for ten years.
There were stories about leaving Cuba years ago and selling Cuban sandwiches during retirement: "We work three months and travel the fourth. We had to do something."
There was advice from a Mother's Day Box found at an antique store: "Use what talent you possess–the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best."
A gray cat sat in the middle of the road. An owl called out as nine deer grazed at the edge of a field. Sunset rippled across the sky.
All on this day.
